President Bateman was being given emeritus status as a general authority and so Brandon's friends stake (the polynesian stake) asked Brandon to join them in one of their dances.
It was a really great experience for him and for all who were in attendance. There were 1,000 or more people there and each ward represented a different country. They all performed dances from the country they were assigned.

What does President Bateman's emeritus status have to do with the Polynesian stake activity?
He helped to organize the stake and may be the one who has stewardship over it. It was an awesome experience!
